WILBUR
Since the pilot of the first airplane flight was Orville, then this fellow must be Wilbur. He was the brother who watched the first flight. Wilbur, the Gnome, is holding a paper airplane, leaning back to watch Orville already in flight. On the base is a buckeye, the symbol for his home State of Ohio. The beetle, at his feet, is a natural means of flight. The sea shells, in honor of Kitty Hawk, N. C. are in the form of a dragonfly. The spiral sea shell copies the design Leonardo Da Vinci drew for a flying machine. The lucky Indian head penny is dated 1903, the year of the Wright Brothers' great flight.
