| North Carolina has much history related to pirates. This statue is a composite intended to represent them all. His coins, showing a ship and palm trees, are from England and Israel, indicating that he has sailed many seas. Now, however, he is buying his treasure on the shore of North Carolina's Outer Banks. He seems proud of his booty, but also appears to sense the silliness of burying in sand what we hold to be precious. |
